An extensive 60-day journey around the Land Down Under was terminated in the wake of the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was stranded by the vessel on a distant coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but parted ways from the excursion for a rest. The ship sailed away leaving her and came back several hours later after the personnel realised the passenger was not present.

An extensive search operation found her person the subsequent day.

Authorities are looking into the tragedy, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer announced that passengers and personnel on the ship were informed that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and earlier technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that travelers would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to arrange the travel back of the individuals via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also released an updated announcement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Master" prohibiting any new passengers from entering the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the ship in the port city upon its arrival.

The ship initially left the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was merely two days into the voyage at the moment of the 80-year-old's death. The remote island was the initial destination on the voyage.

Travelers on the ship - who usually pay tens of thousands of money to participate in the cruise - were taken there for a day trip with the possibility of trekking or snorkelling.

Family Statement

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her relatives was "stunned and grieved that the ship left the island after an scheduled excursion without my mum".

Through her comments, she portrayed her mum as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a bushwalking club.

"Based on limited facts we have been informed, it looks that there was a failure of attention and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She continued that she desired the investigation would be able to identify what "the organization should have performed that might have protected Mum's being".

"Based on information from the police that it was a very hot day, and she fell ill on the uphill trek," she stated.

"Officials suggested her to head down, unescorted. Then the boat sailed away, seemingly without performing a headcount.

"At some stage in that process, or soon after, mother died, without company."

Company Reaction

In a statement, the CEO confirmed that the company was "working closely with authorities to support their examination".

He stated that the firm was "deeply sorry that this has transpired" and had offered its complete assistance to the relatives.

The vessel accommodates up to 120 passengers with forty-six crew, according to company details. It was specially constructed to reach distant regions of Australia's coast and is fitted with "small boats" - compact vessels used to ferry individuals on land visits.

Events of this nature are uncommon, and liners have protocols to document which travelers are embarking or getting off, according to travel authorities.

"Sneaking ashore or [back] aboard simply isn't an possibility," a specialist commented.
