First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has scored five scores this season

New England equaled their longest winning run since the Brady era as they defeated division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

Rookie Henderson was the standout with three scores as the Patriots secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in the 2019 season

QB Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 out of 34 attempts

Victory increases the Patriots advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats

The visitors had scored first at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a short rushing score to conclude the New York's opening drive

But the home team responded in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7

"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He desires to be great."

Fields found John Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the win
