Helicopter Twirls Wildly into Palm Fronds at Popular Southern California Coast
A chopper flying above a popular coastal coastline suddenly commenced twirling uncontrollably, eventually losing altitude and smashing into a row of palm fronds as onlookers watched.
Footage uploaded on the internet show the helicopter commencing to spiral above the shoreline then falling towards the perimeter of the beach, where it becomes wedged between palms and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Details
Local firefighters reported five individuals were transported to a medical facility including two individuals who were in the helicopter and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the incident on the weekend.
Three people on the pavement were hurt. Information on their injuries were not yet released.
What led to the incident was still under investigation.
Planned Function
Officials indicated the chopper was connected to an annual “Cars N Copters” charity gathering scheduled for Sunday.
